At Hands of Mercy, we define an angel investor as an individual that makes a contribution to the non-profit organization in order to fund the expenses or co-pays required for a patient in need of treatment. Other charity based organizations may be considered angel investors as well. 
The angel investors receive financial benefit by being able to write-off their contribution when filing annual taxes.
